Historic Downtown Boise's Idanha Building

The Idanha Building in Downtown Boise, Idaho, used to be known as the Idanha Hotel.

This beautiful historic Idaho icon was built starting in 1900, and at the time was the most expensive structure ever erected in Boise. Walter S. Campbell, the architect who designed the building, used a French Chateau style throughout, with rounded corner turrets and flashy trim. In the early 1900s, the Idanha Hotel was the tallest building in Idaho.

The Idanha used to be home of Peter Schott's New American Cuisine in the 1990s, one of Boise's only 4-star restaurants. A recent renovation closed down the exclusive restaurant and converted its 104 hotel rooms into 53 apartment units, with retail and restaurant space on the ground floor and basement. Since then, Idaho Chef Peter Schott has opened a new restaurant on the ground floor of the Idanha called Shott's Rodizio Grille.
